Raleigh Chopper (Circa 1977)
5 Speed model ... Rare as hen's teeth
I used to do my paper round on this one ... :)
Just don't know whether to sell .. or do it up !!! .. decisions decisions
The big one in the middle is the gear selector.
The hole, was just an orange blanking plate on this bike, with decal printed 1 to 5. There was no moving indicator, under clear plastic, like the 3 speed.
Large chrome wing nuts holding the wheels in place, rather than the 'R' nuts found on the 3 speed version.
Frame was different at the back, where the wheel fixed, because the gear mechanism had to lock into holes, to stop it swizzling round.
5 Speed chain was longer and slender, and the offset of the wheel was different, also, the main cog, was different too. A much quicker bike to ride than the 3 speed and better on hills.
If anyone wants to buy it, email me, but this one really is rare ... How many have you ever seen, let alone, been able to buy ??? This was the only one, when I was a kid, let alone now lol.
